Mind Over Matter

Mind over matter: could simply be explained as our thoughts over actual reality or immediate circumstances.

There’s never been a moment where any living being is completely out of problems. You just solved a financial problem, and next there’s an health challenge, that’s gone, you have bills knocking, your love life needs your attention too, how about security, and your aged folks, you didn’t do so well in last semester exams, you can go on with the list, you’ll find out none is without problems, even the wealthiest amongst us. It’s how we look at these challenges, that makes the difference.

Meet Harrison, he came down with cancer last season, he’s doctor says he can’t participate in his teals finals basketball competition. He gets that but asks, how long does he have if he doesn’t, the doctor says if properly managed he could live 10 years, he goes further to ask, and if I do? I’m not so sure Harry, considering the complexities that could be reduced by half. He says okay I’ll take my chances, ‘at least I get to live five happy, impacting and fulfilling years”. 

That’s mind over Matter right there. He won’t let the news of his bad health steal the joy he’s found from identifying with basketball and his team mates. He’s ready to make the remaining years he has scientifically concluded of course quite impactful and fulfilling for as much as he can. Who knows a miracle may be on the way? 

Away from Harrison, what about you? Do you see that problem to be so big, you can’t see anything else. Do you realize that only as long as you have life is there truly hope? 

Do you feel insignificant, lost or broken? Are you wondering why things doesn’t just add up around your world? I hear you say easier said than done, that right there is the problem. The power begins with what goes on in your mind, Tune your mind

Well take a minute and breathe in.. Try to relax, for once take a vacation if you must, away from your usual life if possible. Just genuinely make deliberate actions to clear your mind from that immediate matter.

Surround yourself with positive people, positive thoughts and attitude. Believe it’s a phase and like others eventually you’ll come out just fine.
